Brimstone Butterfly
Gonepteryx rhamniEnd of July - mid June
When at rest, the Brimstone always has it's wings folded, as in the picture below, and appears more yellow in flight. It's 'butter' colour is thought to have given rise to the term 'butterfly'.
The adult butterfly overwinters, and will emerge on warm days in autumn and spring.
